Therefore, according to the chosen destination, you can either have a civil or a religious wedding recognised in your home country; - or a local ceremony which, however, has no legal recognition, only a sentimental value for the couple.Precise information about the requested documents to provide and how to proceed will be given after your definite choice of destination. Generally speaking, both civil and religious wedding celebrations are accepted in most countries. Of course, a civil marriage is easier to plan, it will be held in front of a Civil Servant in the local Town Hall or at a different site of your choice. The presence of two witnesses, a valid passport and a document certifying your civil status are compulsory.
For a religious wedding, there are a few more procedures to be taken into consideration, including a written permission to get married from the ecclesiastic authority of your destination, and another one from your local parish in your home country.
